Marvel is not messing around with Phase 4! We hit our local theater to see the new box office smash, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and it did NOT disappoint! The fight choreography is incredible, the storytelling is excellent, the acting is exceptional, and the magic is, well, magical. Let's get into it (and be advised, we do give a spoiler warning)!

They explode limbs... and our hearts.
We're back, baby! Welcome to season two of your favorite (we assume) comic and entertainment podcast! This week we took our keisters to the theater for the release of The Suicide Squad, and hot damn, was it worth it. A great mix of gruesome violence and heart-warming character development, suddenly you're grossed out and aww-ing at the cuteness all at the same time. It's a lot, but we cover it all!
Natasha goes out with a bang, not a whimper.
It's the movie we were promised a decade ago, and hot damn it actually lives up to our expectations! Not necessarily a revelation in cinema, but a hellova fun ride and certainly the film Natasha deserves after a long-served tenure in the MCU. And can we just TALK about how fantastic Yelena is? Anyway, let's get into all deets!
Big Liz vs King Monk - who wins?
It's a battle for the ages - the giant ape who just wants to be left alone, versus man's protector, the ever alpha mega-lizard. Who wins, who loses - is it the best movie ever?
It's Godzilla vs. Kong! And it's... fine? Look, we're not breaking any barriers with this flick, but come find out if our predictions were right anyway! And now we get to be depressed about no sequels...
After years of talking smack as non-believers, we sat down and committed the time to watch the newly released Zack Snyder cut of Justice League. And honestly guys... we were wrong. This movie is awesome!
A relatively non-spoilery episode, we break down WHY it's better, and why having a 4 hour runtime is actually it's biggest strength. Oh boy, hope you have some time to kill for this one.
[Spoiler Warning at 23:12!]
Delayed for months thanks to quarantine, the next installment of the Themiscyran hero is here... and it was not what we expected. Or wanted. Or asked for. Boy howdy, there's a lot to unpack here. Buckle up for a quite long (and quite aggressive) episode of REEL EXTRA! Maisie Williams NAILED this role!
We've been dangled this mutant-based horror movie for what seems like FOREVER, but it's finally here, and we braved the scary outside world to go see it! Luckily, it was definitely worth the effort - and we explain why you shouldn't always listen to the critics when it comes to fan-focused flicks.
Just keeps getting better and better.
[Spoiler-free, friends!]
After much anticipation, the new season of The Umbrella Academy has come to Netflix and it is EXCELLENT. In a very un-spoilery fashion, we give you a brief reminder of what went down in season one and share our favorite parts of the new season. And yes, we can confirm, the hype train is real - season two is WAY better than the first. NO MORE ELVES IN ACTION MOVIES!
[Very mild SPOILERS!]
Admittedly, this week was kind of light on new titles and books we thought you needed to know about, so we decided to give our thoughts on the new Netflix Original movie adaptation of Greg Rucka's "The Old Guard." A good flick with great action (Charlize, you're a goddess), we cover the nuanced needs of bringing a comic to the big screen and the dangers that come with giving fans what they think they want. TLDR; Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey is great. Now go see it, already!
[SPOILER FREE EPISODE!]
What's a better movie for date night this Valentine's than watching Harley and her epic squad of badass chicks kicking the bad guys' butts? Answer: there isn't one! This movie is fun, clever, creative, energetic and the definition of the word rambunctious. It doesn't matter what they want to name it - we call it a must-see. So what are you waiting for? Get to the theater! Go on! GIT! |
